Weekend running

What a beautiful weekend this was! Sunny and warm, a bit too warm for the long run on Saturday but I thought heading off at 10:00 would 'beat the heat' - boy was I wrong. Ran from Poulsbo to the Island (11-miles) and about 1/2 way through was out of water and very hot. Finished with a few breaks in shady spots but was kinda shaky for a bit thereafter - so lesson learned, keep the run safe and fun don't go for it just because. Sunday got a short 4-miles in and that felt much better and was more appropriate for the temp.

The rest of the weekend was good as the family was all home. We did yard work throughout the rest of Saturday and then enjoyed the evening together with dinner on the deck before the boys headed out for the evening (something about soaping a friends car windows - somethings I wish they didn't tell us :) Sunday church was good, message on the Prodigal son parable and I had forgotten that "prodigal" actually means extravagent. Lot's of substance in this story but the great reminder, and applicable in our lives right now, is the father's never ending love and acceptance of his son - the same way our Heavenly Father feels about each of us. Otherwise on Sunday, a short run and spent time at the pool with my wife and daughter, a great way to finish off the weekend.

No run today - signed up for the TorchLight 8-k tonight and will glide into that with training this week. Will be running this race with my son which is cool, good memories to be made I hope.
